It’s that time of the year again where the year…ends. It’s also that time of the year where we recap the year by listing the top five things that we most enjoyed during the year, with some honorable mentions thrown in for good measure. It’s been a great year for geeks, and for us. A big thank you to everyone who listened and supported us throughout the year. You are the reason we keep doing this and we hope to keep doing so for many years to come. Happy New Year!

Here it is, just in time for Christmas, our present to you. Not only is Opey not in this episode, but the rest of us tell Santa Claus what geeky things they want for Christmas. The Spike TV VGAs have about as much clout in the game industry as the MTV Movie Awards do in the movie industry. Still, we’re suckers for awards shows, especially ones that involve video games. As such, we thought we’d run down the list of nominees and make our predictions as to which games will win. Take a listen and let us know if you agree with our choices.

And given the time of year, what better way to celebrate than by serving up an extra-special Halloween-themed episode. Then we move to the silver screen and offer up some thoughts on the new FX hit American Horror Story. After that we just sit back and talk about some scary stories that actually happened to us.   Kind of ironic that we categorized this episode as “Originals” because we completely and utterly stole this idea from The Totally Rad Show. It’s like you’ve heard us say before: It looks like they have such a fun time doing this that we wanted in on the action as well.   It was with a heavy heart that we recorded this episode as just one day prior it was announced that Steve Jobs had passed away. We spend the first half of the episode speaking about him and the impact he left on the tech world (and the whole world in general) before moving on to Apple’s latest iPhone keynote held on Tuesday, October 4th. It’s no secret that we’re not the biggest Apple fans in the world and while we found some faults with this keynote there were also a number of really interesting and innovative things to be found as well.

  This episode took us two nights to record thanks to Matt’s internet provider performing routine maintenance during our scheduled recording time, but hopefully you won’t be able to tell. Come to think of it, we probably shouldn’t have said anything at all. Anywho, we kick the show off with Dan’s challenges and try to carefully skirt around the topics of (gulp) politics. After that we move on to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 2. We’re really sad that this saga is over.
