Hey everyone! Matt here rounding out the books I bought during week two of the DC relaunch. One of these books disappointed me slightly, one had me intrigued with the last page while the other one was better than I expected. Listen to find out which is which!

Running late once again, this time I take a look at a couple more new DC books that came out last week with Green Lantern #1 and Mister Terrific #1. Green Lantern was a no-brainer but Mister Terrific was a complete impulse buy, and I thought it was a pretty solid book.

We’re back to our regular routine this week except we’re a Dave short. To celebrate (being back, not Dave being gone) we have a zombie-filled episode for you. We open things up with a discussion of Dead Island, then check out some anime zombies with High School of the Dead before capping things off with another look inside the Zombie Survival Guide. Man, it’s good to be back.

We’re back! We apologize for our recent absence but we were at this small, quiet gathering of fellow nerds called Dragon*Con. As if we haven’t talked about it enough, we figured we’d spend this entire episode talking about all of the awesome things we saw and did there. Hey everyone! Matt here again continuing my look at some of the DC New 52 books. This time I’m covering Action Comics #1 and Green Arrow #1. I was actually surprised with how much I enjoyed one of these and with how much one was just completely average. Give this episode a listen to see which is which.

I know this is coming out about a week late but a little thing called Dragon*Con caused us to have to change a lot of our plans last week. Still, I wanted to spend a few minutes talking about the two issues that lead us into the DC Reboot, Flashpoint #5 and Justice League #1. I’m going to cover as many of the New 52 books as I can throughout the month of September so be sure to keep checking back each week!

Dan’s uncertain availability next week caused us to have to bump up our special Dragon*Con preview show to this episode. Regardless, we had a blast not only talking about the things we’re excited about seeing at this year’s Dragon*Con but also the documentary Four Days of Dragon*Con. We also discussed the documentary The Raid which made us all almost want to play World of Warcraft again. Almost.

Fulfilling the challenge issued by Matt in episode 79, we finally record the pilot for a new podcast idea we had where we watch bad movies and narrate them for the listener. Think audio books only with movies instead of books. Keep in mind that this is just a test run and just because the idea was good doesn’t mean the execution is. We still thought we owed it to ourselves to give it a shot, and we’ll definitely be looking to you, our loyal fans, to offer up some feedback.

Wow, what a show. We weren’t sure if we should put the “explicit” tag on this episode in iTunes or not so we’ll just say it’s probably rated PG-13. Hot on the heels of yesterday’s Geek Byte about the Social Network comes another one about Tron Legacy! Matt and Dan get together and butt heads about this better-late-than-never sequel to 1982′s Tron. Who liked it and who didn’t? You’ll find out soon enough. Don’t forget to let us know your thoughts!

Although the Social Network hit theaters last November, it’s getting quite a bit of recognition again with its Golden Globe award for Best Picture (among others) and its likely Academy Award nominations. More importantly, Dan watched it recently so he and Matt thought this would be a great time to offer up some thoughts on it. Give a listen and let us know if you agree (we’re sure you will).

WARNING: Matt’s mic was acting a little goofy during this episode so sometimes he’s a little louder than normal. We’re very sorry and we’ll limit his talk time next episode. Working hard to get back on a regular schedule this week, though sadly without Dave, we brush the dust off of ourselves and spend some time talking about the new Cataclysm expansion for World of Warcraft.
